Findlay Area Civitan is a chapter of an international service organization with a mission promoting good citizenship and aid to others in need. Civitan mainly helps developmentally disabled persons, but does not stop there. The following are just some examples of what Civitan has recently accomplished:
- Provided substantial financial and volunteer support to Special Kids Therapy (SKT), a new charity in Findlay that works with special needs kids and their families to fulfill requirements that are not covered by public or private insurance.
- Financed part of the local efforts for the Special Olmpics.
- Funded a grant to "Gliding Stars" for skating equipment for special needs members.
- Sponsored a trip for Blanchard Valley Center kids who were able to attend a special day at Cedar Point.
- Provided entertainment and resources for residents of Blanchard Valley Center. Provide Christmas, Easter and Cedar Point trips for residents and others at Blanchard Valley Center.
- Helped defray the expenses of Friends of Santa, an organization that provides personalized presents to over 1,900 deserving individuals during the Christmas Season. Civitan also creates the Santa Claus displays at the Main Street Deli.
- Served refeshments for the anual children's fish festival sponsored by the Hancock District each spring.
- Raised money for Cander Patient Services via the anual Chili Cook Off.
- Maintain Civitan Park, a facility originally financed by Civitan years ago.
- Sponsored the "Citizen of the Year" award in recognition of an individual in Findlay who goes above and beyond in order to be the best citizen possible.
- Worked to help the charitable effors of the National Dachshund Races.
- Assisted in the support of the Civitan National research Center. This center originally discovered the critical role of folic acid during pregnancy and continues to do landmark work in the prevention of developmental diseases.
- Developed and marketed our club's signature "Premier Golf Card" with the extremely generous support of nine local golf courses. The funds from this fundraiser go entirely to support charitable works. If you are a golfer, or know someone who is, this is a "must have" item!!
- Funded a grant through an Art Auction for the Library Flood Relief Fund.

Civitan is an extremely effective service organization serving the needs of the community. We would be proud to
consider you for membership if you want to help us make a positive difference in Findlay and Hancock County.
